When approached to design Horn in the West, it came to my attention that the Daniel Boone we cast in 2017 was a great deal taller than the previous hunter’s coats would allow. But on the other hand, deerskin can be quite warm in the North Carolina summer and can be difficult to care for and store properly. Our compromise was a naturally dyed, heavyweight canvas with a tight weave. This allowed our actor a bit more flexibility in combat scenes as well as being much easier to repair.
